Entrusted with History
As we continually embrace our prophetic assignment and avail ourselves to hear the voice of God we are being entrusted with history for the purpose of edifying, exhorting and comforting the body of Christ.
As we consider the scripture that declares Jer 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. This is a very familiar story of how God’s predestined plan for our life defies the negative history we encounter prior to coming to Salvation. We know that anything that is not future or present is HISTORY! January 1st 2009 is history we will never see it again, we only have a chronicle of what that day entailed, we may have pictures or an experience to reference it but we can’t physically go back to it.
History is the dictionary is described as the branch of knowledge dealing with past events a continuous, systematic narrative of past events as elating to a particular people, country, period, person, etc. usually written as a chronological account
While there are many examples of the purpose of history we will be using scripture from 2nd Samuel chapter 7 to convey some keys for advancement
When I was younger I desperately desired to become a Trauma Nurse, wanted to I studied in the Health field throughout my high school term for preparation, I was involved in an organization called HOSA (health occupation students of America), I competed and placed in Local – National skills competitions in nurse assisting, CPR first aid, prepared speaking etc. I volunteered with hospitals and nursing home facilities and than life changed for me, I begin a path of trouble the ultimately caused me to lose my license and not be able to work in the healthcare field. I was devastated! God wasn’t he knew that my history would not keep me from walking in the History that he created me to walk in. My desire if fulfilled in the Body of Christ as I have the opportunity to minister salvation and Life.
As I walk in my assignment now those that know my past history would mishandle me if they don’t understand the plan of God for my life. My leaders have ministered life knowing my history of trouble, shortcomings, etc., however they attend to the future that God has revealed concerning my life, and this is what History Entrusted into your hands should look like.
There’s more that God wants to reveal, are you listening attentively? Prophet Nathan begins to encourage David to do what’s in his heart, and reminds him the Lord was with him. As Nathan leaves his presence the Lord begins to continually minister David’s Past history to the Prophet Nathan. Note… this occurred before the rebuke from Nathan to David.
We must acknowledge positive and negative history released from God without jealousy or judgment. Nathan received both forms of history with sincerity and confidentiality.
We should receive history in a spirit of meekness and humility knowing that it’s only a platform of information for a strategic plan to minister life and hope along with direction and realignment if necessary – remember when Nathan rebukes David regarding his sin with Bathsheba it was based on entrusted history – God allowed him to know what David had done and because of the openness of the relationship between the King and the Prophet repentance and restoration was ministered
Prophetic Encouragement does not always come as a rebuke, or encouragement, or correction but we should be open to the spirit of God and not be lifted up in pride as to what and who we will receive. God only has one voice, though we are many members.
Ever ask why God entrusts you with history, he’s allowing you witness his majestic work in the lives of submitted broken vessels, he’s giving you an opportunity to be a part of the transformation process and strengthening & establishing your faith.
When God speaks to us concerning our history we should
Humble ourselves to God regarding the spoken word and receive it if it’s truly from God
Covenant with God concerning the word and comply with further instructions or directions given
Journal it for future reference
Praise and thank God for saints that are trustworthy with history so that the body of Christ remains in alignment with the perfect will of God
